The Mesa 7i43U is similar to the Smooth Stepper from a form standpoint. It comes in a LPT port or USB port version but the USB interface is not supported by EMC2 since USB is not a realtime link - it has some inherent latency. However the PC LPT port in EPP mode can be a realtime interface so that link is supported by the Hostmot2 EMC2 driver for the 7i43 board. The Mesa 7i43U (the USB/EPP version) board is about $90. The Mesa 7i43 EPP only version is about $80 which is about 1/2 the cost of a Smooth Stepper. At one point someone was writing a Mach3 Plug-in so the USB version of the 7i43 could be used with Mach3. But I don't think it was ever completed. Dave ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ridiculously easy VDI.
