You mentioned rounding of corners - that tells me that you have a high acceleration setting. The accel values in EMC (and stepconf) are in units/second or units/second^2, so it's possible that your settings are too high if you thought those were units/minute. For example, if your machine can go 60 IPM, that's a setting of 1.0 inches/sec, and 1.0 is what you should enter into stepconf or in the ini. Similarly, if it can accelerate to 60 IPM in 0.5 seconds, then that means 120 IPM/second (60 IPM in 1/2 second), so you'd enter 2.0 for the accel setting. Setting the accel or vel limits too high could certainly explain the things you've been seeing.
