If you already have a breakout arrangement, then the drivers are all you need. 
The extra voltage that they WILL handle is something to think about later ;)

The g540 is useful if you are just starting out and don't have anything, but 
being able to access other facilities not provided by the g540 is a minor 
negative. Price wise there is not a lot between options, although personally 
the 
9way D connector for the motor termination while perfectly capable, is a little 
tight when using a nice flexible cable to the motor.
