(all are under the Open Font License:

And some of the classic open source fonts are here:

Maybe we should bundle some ?

Yeah -- I found that link too. I sent an email off to the guy who made Lacuna to see if he'd be okay with modifying his license so that I could alter it for use as the base system font. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

And definitely, we should bundle some of them. At the very least, let's include these:

 - Gentium
 - Bitstream Vera
 - Andika

I would also suggest we include:

 - DejaVu
 - Doulos
 - Charis

And some of the non-Latin fonts, like:

 - Scheherezade
 - Lateef
 - Ezra
 - ShanHeiSun
 - ZenKai
 - Bitstream Cyberbit

And anything else you suggest or that anyone in the project would find useful...

Most of the other fonts (particularly ones from the last link Yen-Ju sent) have restrictive licenses (fonts can't be modified, fonts can't be used in commercial works, fonts can't be redistributed, etc). I'd prefer we stay away from those.

Also... can we work with OpenType fonts? Are there any technical issues there?

J.
