i am not arguing for or against this model, i am just saying that 
given the expectations of the seeker, the expectations of the master 
follow as appearing reasonable.

yes, the presuppositions are that no one is holding a gun to the 
seeker's head, and it is up to them to make the right choice for 
themselves, assuming they buy into the whole seeker/master dynamic.

if they don't, game over.
