Greetings to Mac users, A few of you have reported crashing problems with certain plugins on OS 9.2.x. This has been of some concern to all the PI developers. The root of the problem is that plugins would like to gain access to the current page or measure information and it is not available in the PDK. Instead those plugins that need this info have been using a patch and this patch is what is causing the crash.
"View Info" attempts to remedy this problem by implementing a different solution and becoming a miniature server for this information. It comes in two parts: a tiny plugin for users and an even smaller library PI developers merge into their plugin code. This enables their plugins to become clients for the View Info server and get the information they need. If you have been experiencing these problems, you are welcome to install View Info and test that it, as a solo plugin, does not crash your system. If you report success, I'd love to hear about it so the solution can be implemented by those plugins which need stability. So far, there has only been Robert Patterson and myself to verify that it does indeed provide the correct info without crashing. If you are running OS 9.2.x and a recent version of Finale, you can download the broadcaster portion from my site in the Macintosh section to assist. I'll be making a few more comments for developers on the PDK chat list. Best wishes, Philip Aker http://www.aker.ca _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
