Well, 98% safe. And the 2% risk should be relatively easy to recover
from.

The part that got me was that once my lyrics were messed up, editing
them with the UI that I used to put them in was not getting rid of
everything that was onscreen. There were hidden hyphens that were
causing extra word continuation hyphens to overstrike the real text,
and I was unable to get to that data with the TYPE IN SCORE user
interface.

Once I mucked around in the EDIT LYRICS dialog and saw the extra
syllables and hyphens, and then cleaned things up there, I was
eventually able, with complete re-assignment via SHIFT LYRICS of 75%
of the lyrics of one staff, to fix the problem without having to
clear out all the lyrics and start over.

So, it looks about 85% safe with 10% of the risk covered by the UIs
available. This is not as bad as it seemed to me before I managed to
fix it, but a large part of my dismay came from your recommendation,
Mark, that I clear all lyrics and start over. That Draconian solution
was not warranted at all, and you would be better not to offer it so
soon in such a troubleshooting process. My hysteria would have been
greatly lessened had you held your tongue a little while!
