Me neither, DVB is not available here.

IIRC this is a technical problem. MPlayer and Xine can play all sort of 
video media where as you PVR sticks to MPEG-2 (and maybe MPEG-4).

Some of the formats don't support reverse play so I think that they have 
  taken the easy option and don't implement reverse playback.

Jason has done something like this, at least I think so, with the bmovl 
plug-in and a mplayer patch. I tried to install it once but wasn't sure 
against which revision of mplayer the patch was for.
