Reporting back, in case anyone's interested. I wrote yesterday that I had found a Seagate 200Gb external FireWire/USB2 drive for $119 (after a $50 rebate-- Outpost.com item number 4015532).
I ordered it, received it today. The box says it's compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and the manual says it's compatible with Mac OS 9, but I couldn't actually reformat the drive (necessary, since it's factory-formatted FAT32) using my OS 9.1 G3. No problem for me, I just used my OSX iBook, which took just a couple of minutes, but this could be a problem for others. Except for that, it's a sweet machine!
