Hello Hui Liu, You can find descriptions of the fields in any table by finding it in the Table Browser (http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTables) and hitting the "describe table schema" button.
The all_est table is in PSL format, which is a common format for UCSC Genome Browser tables that describe alignments. More info is here: http://genome.ucsc.edu/FAQ/FAQformat.html#format2. The bin field is in many of our tables and is used to speed up the display in the Genome Browser. You can ignore it. The qName field in the all_est table contains the names of the ESTs. The tSize column does indeed contain the size of the chromosome listed in the tName field. If you have further questions, please contact us again at [email protected]. -- Brooke Rhead UCSC Genome Bioinformatics Group On 1/2/12 4:25 AM, cczulh wrote: > Hi > > I have downloaded the all_est table from ucsc ftp server, but I have some > question about the meaning of several columns of the table.
