This has nothing to do with AT&T (for once). It's just the nature of routing. Set your browser up to use a proxy server (Mediaone used to use http://www.ne.mediaone.net/proxy/proxy.pac for auto configuration), and it should work fine. The traffic has to go out of your network, then back in.
