Defrag when necessary.
In other words, if the frag index doesn't require a defrag, don't do it.
But, let the programme figure it out.

I see no problem with running a defrag every half-hour, as extreme as that may 
sound, if the index says DON'T.

That's all that I meant.
Nothing more, nothing less.

The jobs are scheduled.
The action depends.

As I said, the first couple of times may be I/O intense,.
The rest, probably not.

There is a difference between scheduling a job, and the job actually doing 
something.

If that wasn't clear, I'm sorry.

As I've said, it's an insurance policy, especially when you're tight on space.
