I have considered an iBook. Still out of my budget atm. I am saving for that new Mac. So, until then I did go with the G3 tower. I found one upgraded for a great deal, and I think the linksys card will work in it. It's enough for my daughter and I can play with it until I can decide what *I* want. :-)

also, i've never had trouble with getting a connection all over the house with my laptop. Even my neighbors could get on if I didn't have a firewall!

A very good question Brian.

The seller told me he had a wireless network in his premises and the laptops sometimes had to be moved round to get in range. This is more difficult with desktops. Maybe his wireless equipment wasn't as good as it could be.
