First, just realized sprint no longer points to us as the authority so that is why there is no reverse dns - getting them to fix that.
Second, we have no lists and we aren't an open relay. Some moron did send some spam using the web interface. As admins of imail, we know how insane that is - lots of cutting and pasting very little payoff. Within 10 minutes of receiving the complaint we closed the spammer down. Our reward? We are on their blocked list. We have been running for over 5 years, we have never been spam friendly and I still don't see how someone could do a mass mail through us. But spamcops flawed idea of - send one piece of spam and you are a spammer service and should be blocked is just stupid. I have emailed them and actually called them. Their official answer, too bad a spammer used your service (even though you closed the account) you are a spammer. Live with it and don't have people spam. That is just bs. The guy sent less than 50 emails. After 5 years, we do not show a pattern of being a spammer. We are not spammers do not allow spamming. Spamcop does not have a legit way of handling complaints, to say even though we have never seen you before and you have closed the account within the first 5 minutes we are going to label you a spammer is ludicrous. I have spent the past few weeks with our web messaging problems working my ass off on our servers. It is a free mail service (laugh all you want) but it has become my big expensive hobby that I do because I enjoy it and our users love it. We have 50,000 users - and one guy spams so all of them can now have their mail blocked because of spamcop? I do not consider spamcop a serious antispam source, after talking to the admin, I have the impression of some kids playing tough guys. And sadly, as someone else has pointed out - they will get sued. They are defining a situation, making a recomendation and then profiting from that recomendation. Our lawyer says it is pretty clear. And yes, this sucks, our lawyer... god I hate that word but I will not have my hard work thrown down the drain because some little kids wants to play tough guy and damage my system.
