We use SpamCop as well on our Declude system and usually see pretty good information from it.
However, we had an e-mail from them yesterday giving us information about a "Spamvertised website". >From what we can tell from this confusing message they sent to us is that *someone* (so far, it is someone who uses someone else's email service ... NOT OURS) *INCLUDED* a URL in their e-mail which they must have sent to some people (not sure who or if a list or what)... and in this e-mail that this person sent, they included the URL address for one of our client's web sites. So, they track that back to us as being the host...and we try and go through it figuring out if it's us or our customer or what the heck is happening. Here's the wording regarding this - it's just an excerpt: "This report is concerning a web site (http://www.WEBSITEANONYMOUSNOTREAL.COM ) mentioned in the body of an unwanted email. " So, this does give me some concern regarding the SpamCop service - this wasted our time, our client's time... and we *CAN'T* control what people write in their OWN PERSONAL e-mails ... Now, we can control how e-mail is sent through our servers etc... which we try and protect. Anyway, this could get a bit ridiculous if we have a ton of inquiries from services like SpamCop that puts this information in their database....
