I think I've narrowed the problem down to the main.mbx file itself. I stripped everything out of the spool and the web spool and the user directory including indexes. All that was left was main.mbx. Ran up Imail again and logged on to the user account via the Web and the problem remains - cannot delete messages. I even set up a deleted message account and that did not help - no copy of deleted item sent there.
Short of deleting the users mail and starting again I am stumped.
