Hi fellow lemmings,

I've been sitting back for the past few weeks and reading the posts
concerning JFW 3.3.

I, for one, am not very enthralled by what I have been reading. Like
numberous others of you I purchased an SMA when I bought the upgrade to
v3.2.19. That purchase was just this past Jan./Feb. I was upgrading
from v1.21, so my upgrade cost $300.

I additionally paid $100 for the SMA. It's my understanding that the 'A'
in SMA stands for 'agreement'. When I was being offerred the SMA, I
discussed in detail with the salesman exactly what we were "agreeing" on.
I made it quite clear that I would not pay $100 for two of HJ's little
new builds/ patches. I made it clear that I expected the upgrades to be
"major" upgrades.

I assumed that a "major upgrade" would have had plenty of testing behind
it, and be nearly bug free. HJ's original projected date for the final
release of 3.3 was mid June. All of a sudden it gets pushed ahead to the
first week in May! And a notice sent to our list owner, and written by
Eric Damery, says that HJ is going to spend "a whole weekend" to finish
ironing out the problems. Well, from what I've read this past week by
those of you who bothered to download the "final release" -- they failed.
I've read nothing but postings about bugs, errors, failures,
problems,etc., etc., etc.!

Now I read that these "bugs" will have to be fixed in later patches.
That's not what I PAID FOR! Why the big rush to get this release out,
and pressed onto CD's? Is there some major convention coming up? Is big
bad Ted going to pull a Bill Gates -- in attempting to demonstrate his
"new release"?

I'm sorry that HJ felt that they could justify a major upgrade simply by
changing the version number from 3.20.xx to 3.30.xx. I'm also sorry that
they had such poor judgement to go ahead and press this release onto
disc. It's obviously no where near ready for that. And I don't
particularly care for paying for their stupid mistakes.

This was NOT what I had "agreed" to. I don't want to install an
extremely flaky release -- just because it is sent to me on a disc.

What I want is either a return of my $100 or an upgrade, on disc, when
the product has been thoroughly tested and is truly ready for release.

HJ is not living up to their end of the agreement. I realize that none
of the other screen reading packages on the market compare to JFW, but
that does not release HJ from their legal obligations. The blind
community may be a small market, in comparison to the entire world -- but
can HJ spell "class action lawsuit"?

Sincerely dissatisfied,

David R. Sherman
