I would say their resolve has been up and running just > fine.Bree, I think the reason that NARAL believes the commitment should be strengthened is that, considering the possibility of retiring U.S. Supreme Court Justices and the yahoos in office right now, this country is running the very real risk that all abortions will become illegal again. It sounds as if you would welcome that. I hope you're in the minority.
I just thank God that Joni's parents did not decide to end and terminate their pregnancy! We cry for the inhumane treatment of animals...we lament the sufferings of the starving Ethiopians....we write loving songs to whales...we carry placards of the suffering Iraqis's...we abhor the abuse of the third world countries sweat shops...all of this well and good. But why do so few cry for the innocents who would like a chance just as you and I have been given at life?? These fetuses (Latin meaning little one) no, can not sustain on their own, BUT they are growing..developing...wanting to come out and experience all that life has to offer. I saw the documentary.."Silent Scream"...these little ones do feel pain. This shook my world!! Souls ...that are composed of free will..intellect...everything that makes us human..do go on. I do feel this has been a blight on this country...it's cheapened life....cheapened us all. AND I WONDER OUT OF THE FORTY MILLION PLUS THAT WERE SNUFFED OUT..SINCE 1973..HOW MANY WOULD HAVE BEEN joni fans.? Quite a few.. I imagine?And as Joni sang in Songs To Aging Children Come: "I am one."
