I would like to install the "adblock" extension for mozilla/firefox.

When I try, it tells me that "Software installation is currently
disabled". Even if I go through the motions of enabling software
installation in FireFox. I think this is really a permissions
problem.
I can download without installing, and get
"adblock-0.5.3.042-fx+fl+mz+ns.xpi". This seems to be a zip archive,
with contents:
chrome/
chrome.manifest*
components/
defaults/
install.js*
install.rdf*
license.txt*
Presumably I should do something (as root) to install it. What?

This is how I installed Adblock in my Firefox ver 1.5.
Open Firefox:
1. Tools
2. Extensions
3. Get more extensions
4. Adblock
5. Install Now
6. Install Now
Note: Adblock will be upgraded when Firefox is restarted.
Adblock will appear in the Tools menu and also at the lower right corner
of the Firefox window if all goes well.
