John,
I can never get modems to work any more. too many digital phone lines in the way. Churches can be one exception to pushing to spend more money, even a little bit, depending on their budget. But part of the problem I find is if I am donating my time, then they don't mind that it takes me a longer time to fix things. When they pay for my time, then having a system that is more reliable will make better financial sense. Sometimes I try to offer that if they upgrade, I will donate some of my time (because service calls will be easier and take less time) but if they do not upgrade then they should expect to pay more for service because I cannot afford to give away that much time and they may have to find someone else to service it. I know, logic doesn't always work out though. As long as you are putting in -3's you can use the Windows program to set them up. I went in to the -1 with the DOS and copied info from all the screens that had anything pertinent, then programmed the newer system with Windows in my shop to the best of my ability so I was able to make a quick swap and the finish up the programming on site.
