You have no idea how hard I am trying to contain my F-bombs with this conversation ;)
What medium are people using to socialize beyond email that was created > back in 1988 that is still widely used in 2011. You are making no sense. It is 2011. If we knew the future we would all be rich, but to blatantly ignore the technology of the present just because it might not be around in 20 years is absolutely ridiculous and you know it. We need to live in the present as well as plan for the future. > > We had this conversation about Twitter too, which you bagged on. Yet most > of > > the updates and cutting edge news, at least in the security field, is on > > Twitter now. > > You cannot argue with the facts coming out from other companies that I > simply pointed out. > Ah... yes I can. If anyone can not argue it's you. You haven't participated so you have no idea the values or drawbacks. It's like watching a football game and screaming at the TV because the quarterback didn't throw it to an open receiver he didn't see. Like anything in technology it's what you make of it. > Lets talk twitter in 10-20 years. This stuff is still so new, people act > like we can't live without it and life did not exist before. > Let's just get rid of computers then too, or jets for that matter. We lived perfectly fine before any of that too. You are making a false argument. > > > Twitter is world-wide and large, IRC is small with little > > communities. > > IRC dwarfs Twitter, easily. Keep in mind not all IRC networks are known > or published. It just shows a lack of knowledge. > Ah, no, you are incorrect. IRC does not "dwarf" Twitter at all. There is not 175 million people on IRC right now. Taking the Facebook route there are 750 million active users on Facebook. Yeah, IRC dwarfs that. It must be nice to live so oblivious to the world around you. > Yes I missed out, I never created a myspace page. > Who knows, maybe you did and you will never know. > Also its not like your talking about your first hand experience. Joining > projects, taking part in leadership, growing a community, etc. > Ok, you are out of your mind. You couldn't be more wrong. I have multiple open source projects including a big one that is about to get unveiled at Black Hat and Defcon this year. This isn't to mention my years of research, public speaking engagements, as well as boards and advisory groups that I sit on. Once again you are being insulting with your ignorance. So I mean this from the bottom of my heart when I tell you can go screw yourself. Your condescending tone pisses a lot of people off, just think about that. Nice community building skills you have. Just go ahead and keep digging that hole a little deeper and putting your head further in it. Its terrible insulting after all I do for the LUG to be disrespected so > publicly. I would never disregard others comments or say such things as > I don't care, or say their comments and thoughts are irrelevant. Last I > checked that wasn't showing good manners or being polite. But no worries > I have thick skin. > You don't come out and say you disregard what people say, but that's actually what you do and it's the impression you give people. Being polite to someones face while in the background thinking about how stupid they are is just disingenuous. I think most people would prefer honesty. I knew I should have just deleted these emails, but I didn't. That part of this is my fault entirely and I apologize to the list. You know what, you made a good point though. What have I done for the LUG lately. The answer is nothing, I travel around the world for work. I am not always in town when meetings happen and sometimes when I am, I am just happy to be home. It's okay to go ahead and discount previous contributions I have made such as presentations and install fests I have helped out with just because I haven't done anything lately. I tell you, I sure feel like helping out with something now. Whew, I can't believe I made it through that without throwing out an F-bomb :) -- *Nathan Hamiel* http://hexsec.com <http://hexsec.com>http://twitter.com/nathanhamiel blog: www.neohaxor.org
