I could say the exact same in return when I am interacting with people on such a different page than many in the world. But don't worry, I myself am quickly losing interest in the JaxLUG. Though I wonder where the JaxLUG would be presently without me? Not like I have done anything to help keep things going. Many times when others have totally dropped the ball. Sorry to kill your buzz, didn't realize that was the point behind the JaxLUG. However in tech you need thick skin. All this being nice crap honestly kills communities more than it makes them thrive. Sorry but any top tech company had a raging maniac. Both Bill Gates and Steve Jobbs are known for it, and what have they done? Are either known for their kindness or otherwise? Gentoo's use of CoC has led to forks and considerably lack of developers and development. Rather than realizing that tech is no different than anything else in nature, Darwin rules. Though if you have never been a meeting or met me in person. You will have a very different opinion of me all around. ;) > I did not comment on IRC negatively. Quite many users these days are not even running Linux. FOSS software is on everything, and unless your paying a company for support. Your turning to the community, and to chat with that community. Really is no other option than IRC. > Yes, sysadmins and kernels devs love IRC, old-school chat that it is > and all. People get so jaded but such superficial and minor things. Totally overlooking the big picture and point being made. I honestly don't use IRC that much these days. Because I am not as active in the FOSS world as I once was. But go check cia.vc, if you have ever even heard of that site. Go see where those people are, and I bet many if not all will be on IRC pretty much 24/7. > But, users come in all types of flavors, do they not? Want to cross over > into business-space? You won't do it on IRC, I can tell you that. Again you are speaking from your own experience. A leading company in the financial transaction processing software, based in Gainsville. Their second form of contact for user support is IRC. You would be blown away by what companies run this software. http://www.monetra.com/content/support.html This is really cracking me up :) -- William L.
