Self appointed leaders? Um I am temporarily just filling an empty void.
Why don't you step up and do something rather than come against those
doing it all, for what benefit or gain?

Though last time there was any official meeting on leadership. I clearly
stated I wanted none, and end of that meeting I was assigned to be
treasurer. No one else was assigned to be anything and that was years
ago....

IRC is a tool, its used for communities to chat with each other in real
time. Amongst many other things, but mostly for community interaction.
Thus channels, and being in them. Otherwise you can just log into an IRC
network, as you do any IM network, Yahoo, AIM, GTalk, Skype, etc.

Chat is chat, nothing more nothing less.
