i don't have any experience working with CUPS or printing from the
workstation (its on my todo list, sorry), but could you give some additional
information, IE, what type of printer, workstation, can you verify the LPT
port is good?

one thing that I had a problem with in the past (usually network printers)
was a driver problem.  Also, are you setting up your printer as lp0 or as a
network printer attached to IP<workstation.ip> .  I'm not very familiar with
this and I'm not in my test environment. good luck and send more info...
