Ah, that.  Obtaining a phone is not difficult nor will the expense exceed zero
in a number of cases (such as my wife's recent adventure with a bogus AT&T
account demonstrates).  I suppose one could include paying for a burner phone.
But simply to have a throw-away "from" address, with the right equipment and
software, any mystic number will do.

In our collective experience, few things other than bankruptcy or imprisonment
seem to slow spammers.  "Nadine"'s favorite gang just fired up two new /24s
this past week.  They seem also to have around fifty new domains waiting
around in the cooler to get past the "day old bread" checks.  Human societies
can be such fun.
