Agree with David and Steven. If nothing else, it’s dramatically focused attention on Trump’s effort to politicize the military for extra-judicial use against undocumented immigrants, civilian protestors and alleged "drug traffickers" from Venezuela and Colombia in international waters. It might even encourage the formation of military support organizations of the kind cited by Mark to counsel and assist troops refusing to illegally follow illegal orders - a task for the left. In general, the statement by the Democratic congressional representatives is the latest expression of alarm within the ruling class over the past year about Trumpist violations of “the rule of law” and the separation of powers, and within the base of society at the at the assaults on free speech and other democratic rights.
