Sorry. I'm not following your thread by a while. But I need to ask you if you are using Linux, you must set right permissions for the user under what SapDB is running.
As sample, I use RedHat 9 and a little modified statup scripts, and looking the scripts I see that SapDB is running under sapdb user&group. So, sapdb user and/or the group must have rw permissions on directory where database files are. On NT this kind of problem can occur if the directories are modified from default permissions (that are allow everyone, everything). If you already certified the user sapdb service is running on has rights, just ignore this mail.
