The R50 is a worthy unit, but it's just a question of finding one (unless
you find a good 2nd hand unit). Otherwise, the lowly R55 might be the only
other option. Shame they kept the quality but not the battery life.
But at any rate, advice well said Gaz! And that's a biased comment from
another R50 owner here 3#-)

And I'd like to offer a bit of very biased advice-- go for the Sony MZ-R50
for a recordable portable after your current unit goes for a walk. Dump
Sharp and switch to the Sony range and you won't regret it. You even
get a feature no other units have, the "End Search".
