You dont need to use compressers to get the old top off just lay it down
and undo it be care full you dont have you face in line and piont the
strut into a wall.
When I fit heaver springs I cut them down so they can go back together
with out clamps, but you need to check before you cut about three
times,as you want to cut them so the strut just and no more goes back
together,if you can put the top nut on 1/2 turn by hand ,thats cool as
when you tigten it up the spring will not rattle or move in the
platforms.
