Did you price a Dell Precision? The 4600 which replaced my 4300 STARTS at
$1700. A $500 laptop is consumer grade, it will not relate quality-wise to your
Mac in any substantial way. The cheapest Mac now starts at $1200 you should use
that as your guide.

HP shows an HP ProBook 4530s Notebook PC for $539 which is listed
under "small business solutions", and 4 docking stations that range from
$85 to $137. I suppose that laptop would work with any of them.
Having an external on-off switch would be an advantage.
