Hi Kirby

Sorry I didn't make that very clear, I'll rephrase: I have burned a few
data files onto CD-RW with gtoaster but I haven't tried burning to CD-R as
yet. And since it was my first go at burning in linux, I only burned at
4x. I'll have a go at burning CD-R today, one at 4x (as I had to in
Windoze) and one at 10x (HP 9310i max write speed).

After reading Tom's and Civileme's messages re VIA I'm totally confused.
I don't know how to change my setup - the udma or PIO thing - or whether
its even possible. I suppose I'll just have to leave things as they are
for now. What's worse, I'm upgrading my system in a week's time and now I
don't know what to buy!

Anyway, will post the results of my attempt at burning CD-R later.

Cheers
skinky
