--------------------------------- [5] Draw here live --------------------------------- Posted Friday, March 22, 2002 by redend: As usual for those without (radio or TV access - i.e. you are not a scouser & therefore work for a living) we'll be covering the Champions League Draw "live" - this time on the http://www.rednews.co.uk/forum/RED.php RED FORUM from 11:30 UK time, (12:30 CET). The UEFA big knobs usually take a few minutes to get their act together so probably be at least 11:45 before draw is completed. Look for message subject: DRAW LIVE HERE - REFRESH THIS MESSAGE --------------------------------- [4] Fax off Scousers --------------------------------- Posted Friday, March 22, 2002 by redend: Once the draw has been made, if it's a foreign team, (by some bizarre twist of logic the Scousers aren't classed as foreign), then the membership office are accepting faxed applications for tickets for the away leg from those who've been to at least one (probably several) previous Euro aways this season. You don't need an official application form but you do need to provide: travel arrangements accomodation details credit/debit card type (eg VISA), Number, Expiry, Valid From, Issue No. (Switch) Presume you will have to collect tickets as can't send an SAE by fax Details of all those travelling (& therefore no. of tickets - don't be greedy): Surname, Initials, Title, MUFC Membership No., Passport No. and also for the "lead person": Address & telephone no. Faxes will be accepted on 0161 868 8837 --------------------------------- [3] Belated reserves report --------------------------------- Posted Friday, March 22, 2002 by redend: Thanks to Ray - missed this one earlier: Went to the reserves match tonight Brown played 45 mins (Off for Tierney who played extremely well) and looked fine, Irwin was unbeatable, Carroll made two great saves, all those named started. Djordic and Davis posed a great threat all night with pace regularly beating the Liverpool full backs, everybody played well, and a 1-1 result was not unfair. They scored on 24 mins and us about 47 mins from a great passing move and run down the left wing from i think Davis' centre we stuck the ball into their net, scorer ermm there was a great big post in the way sorry! Berger was useless, and Wright (I think) was sent off for two bookable offences on about 80 mins, highlight besides our goal, the streaker on about 87 mins! Michael Stewart was great on the ball taking up good positions and always looking for opportunitities, for some reason he was listed in the program as Stuart Michael hmmmm!! Entertaining match could easily have been won by either side in a frantic last 15 mins. --------------------------------- [2] Bring on the Scousers --------------------------------- Posted Friday, March 22, 2002 by redend: Personally I'd be quite happy to draw the Scousers - my Mrs is already kicking off at the prospect of me disappearing to Coruna or Athens. If we draw Liverpool I'm convinced we will win. I've dreamt about it - what more proof do you want? The Shirts would not let us down - its the motivation they need to up their game. In recent meetings Liverpool have benefited from the same kind of motivation that stirred up Big Norm and gave us such a good record against them considering their superiority in terms of average league position at that time. However, to lose to Liverpool in the European Cup would be unacceptable - it just would not happen. When it comes down to it - we are the better team - as we've proved over the last decade - and when its a level playing field with both sides equally well motivated - we would come through. I know plenty are looking forward to a sunshine break in Spain or Athens - alright for those who can afford yet another trip - but I'd be quite happy to say - pack your trunks - we're going to Merseyside. [By the way - some of the above is lies.] --------------------------------- [1] Scousers should be out ... --------------------------------- Posted Friday, March 22, 2002 by redend: ... its the LAW .... well it should be. After yesterday's convincing argument that Liverpool should not be in the quarter finals Lars sent this to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Since the Champions League started in 92/93 there have been a total of 64 group phases each with four teams, However NO other team than Liverpool has EVER managed to fluke through with only ONE win. AND - There have only ever been two other occassions when a team has gone through on 7 points, Dynamo Kiev in 99/00 and Legia Warsaw in 95/96, BUT both had TWO wins to the Scousers ONE. AND Legia scored 5 and Kiev scored 8. The Scousers only scored FOUR goals. Is there no justice? http://www.ThePlasticTreble.co.uk http://www.ThePlasticTreble.co.uk --------------------------------- [33] Mathematical proof ..... --------------------------------- Posted Thursday, March 21, 2002 by Doc'sArmy: .... that Liverpool should be out of Europe... The assassin sent this incontrovertible evidence to [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Only one team got more points than United's 12 in the Champions League: step forward favourites Real Madrid who got 16. Liverpool got just 7 points - the same as Arsenal and Juve who are out! Real scored the most goals (14) and United were second top-scorers with 13. Vermin scored just 4. Arsenal scored 8 and Juve 7 - and they're both out. Only Porto scored less than the Bindippers with 3 while Nantes also got 4 - and both are out. In stage one Liverpool scored 7 goals - the least by any group winner. Someone should sue them under the Trades Descriptions Act. They're supposed to play football; they're meant to entertain the masses. Surely the Scousers wouldn't be ripping people off and nicking their ticket money. And some good news: United conceded just 3 goals. The only defence better was Bayern's who let in 2. Liverpool let in 4 and Real let in 5.
