It would still need a clutch assembly of some sort in order to disconnect the power. And it uses dry bearings, that I'm sure need replacing. Even simple jet engines need periodic servicing, I have to imagine these would too. It looks like it functions similar to a torque converter but with the housing bolted to the chassis. In a direct drive config I can't imagine it could produce much torque. Transmissions would probably be used for high load applications. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T
