Hi!

Hope for kind guru help to clear out my confusion:

1. What attacker *size* adjustment doing in *ranged* attack bonus?
Testcase 1: Hill giant & halfling of similar skill & dex engage in archery contest vs.
medium-size
target at 200 ft using same bow. halfling win most of the time because of permanent +2
bonus vs.
giant just for being small.
Testcase 2: NBA players should consist only of dwarves and halflings because of
inherited penalties
for large humans at throwing ball in the basket (as ranged attack)

Attack (ranged) [Standard][AoO: Yes]

The attack roll is:
d20 + Attack modifiers vs. AC of target
Attack modifiers consist of the combatant's base attack bonus, size adjustment,
dexterity
adjustment, and any other bonuses that apply to the attack roll.

2. Tordek was left by wandering orcs for dead at -1 hit points. He managed to
stabilize and regain
consciousness on his own after several hours, now at - 5 hit points. Tordek is now
disabled. What
happens is Tordek makes a Heal.FirstAid skill attempt on himself? Because Heal doesn't
recover hit
points and is activity what require physical & mental effort (DC check) he should
loose 1 hp and
start dying again. However successful FirstAid should prevent him from dying and
loosing hp. What
take precedence? Will he loose 1hp anyway, or only for unsuccessful attempt? Does
attempt to heal
yourself at -9 mean automatic death? Can character to do Heal.FirstAid(self) to begin
with?

(*)Heal (WIS)

First Aid: First aid usually means saving a dying character. If a character has
negative hit points
and is losing hit points (at 1 per round, 1 per hour, or 1 per day), the healing
character can make
her stable. The injured character regains no hit points, but she does stop losing
them. The check is
a standard action.

and if the character performs any strenuous activity, the character takes 1 point of
damage after
the completing the act. Strenuous activities include running, attacking, or using any
ability that
requires physical exertion or mental concentration. If the character takes a strenuous
action, the
character's hit points drop to -1, and the character is dying.

Stable characters and Recovery
...skip...
A character who stabilizes on its own (by making the 10% roll while dying) and who has
no one to
tend for it still loses hit points, just at a slower rate. The character has a 10%
chance each hour
of becoming conscious. Each time the character misses the hourly roll to become
conscious, the
character loses 1 hit point. The character also does not recover hit points through
natural healing.
Even once the character becomes conscious and is disabled, an unaided character still
does not
recover hit points naturally. Instead, each day he has a 10% chance to start
recovering hit points
naturally (starting with that day); otherwise, the character loses 1 hit point.
Once an unaided character starts recovering hit points naturally, the character is no
longer in
danger of losing hit points (even if the character's current hit point total is
negative).

Thanks for help!
