In the mean time, Alex had managed to find some medical records and she was
reading them with interest and disgust. Her mother had given her medicine
all right. Drugged her in fact, at least as far as Alex was concerned
that's what had been done. When Derek entered teh control room she looked
up, her anger clear in her eyes. "Valium," she said, "that woman had this
poor kid on Valium! She could possible be in withdrawal. They were small
doses, but according to these records the headaches have been occurring
frequently for the last three years."

Rachel picked up on the phone on the second ring, feeling much better and
rested "Hello, Doctor Corrigan speaking."

Derek sat down in the chair next to her with a barely restrained glare at
that bit of information and nodded for Alex to put Rachel on the speaker
phone. There was something else in his gaze too, having to do with Alyssa
herself and the feeling he was experiencing. But first thing was first.

"Rachel, we need you to come to the House. I know you were going to head
over later for Kat but something's come up."

He spent the next few minutes explaining everything, finishing with "I need
you to help my daughter, Rachel."

He couldn't deny his feelings. The last time someone had come to claim him
as a father he had let his emotions for the woman cloud his judgement, but
there had been a seed of doubt. Now.. now there wasn't. Something deep
within him knew that Alyssa was his daughter, even if Alex hadn't had pulled
that picture up.

"I'm on my way." Rachel said, hanging up.
