Hi List This seems to be a recurring problem on my system. Tim Wheeler suggested these fixes when I posted about this a while ago (thank you Tim) >Try to eliminate other possibilities: >Copy the files to the desktop, and open from there. Are they "read >only"? (shouldn't affect ability to open.) >Are TIFF files associated with another program? >Write another CD with similar files to determine if a CD writing fault >Try to open files from another CD >Reinstall PSCS.
and things seemed to settle down but now the problem has returned for no apparent reason and none of the above will fix it. The problem is that after recording images onto CD (Verbatim data life plus) the images won't open in Photoshop CS or PS 7. The thumbnails show up in the file browser, but any attempt to open them results in the egg timer appearing, then all the palettes turn into white empty boxes and the whole thing freezes and I have to shut PS down. After re-installing PS CS the image will now open (after about 60 seconds) but then Photoshop freezes, as above. I am running windows XP, the files that I am trying to open are about 65MB TIFF files, there is 10gb free on the hard disk and 1gb RAM, using Nero to burn the CDs. I have used the same set-up for ages without problems and can't think of anything that I have changed. I have defragged, debugged, run "Registry Mechanic" to fix any faults and recorded the same files to different CDs - all with the same frustrating result. The images all open perfectly when viewed direct from the hard drive. All I can think of is that I have a very bad batch of CDs or can anyone think of anything else that I could try before I have to go and lie down in a darkened room? Help! and thanks Amanda =============================================================== GO TO http://www.prodig.org for ~ GUIDELINES ~ un/SUBSCRIBING ~ ITEMS for SALE
