I've just been faced with the same issue - organizing a fairly large music collection (>2500 CDs) for SlimServer.
Like you, I went for dbPoweramp for ripping to FLAC and converting to MP3. Solid ripping, performance is fine (I like the multi-CPU feature in the Reference version), good tagging (freeDB and AMG, which tends to have better tagging than freeDB). The only negative is the slightly unusual user interface. For tagging and library, I considered JRiver MediaCenter (MC) and Helium Music Manager (HMM) http://helium-music-manager.com/index.php . I settled for HMM. A big factor was the much better tagging interface - I found MC tagging very cumbersome. I also preferred HMM's user interface and its DB organization (e.g. it avoids confusing two different CDs which have the same album and track titles, a common thing with classical music). -- JMinSF Jean-Marc ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JMinSF's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11334 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34786 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
