I filed it a long time ago: https://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5108 I think the problem is that nobody considered non-compilations with guest artists, so this setting (currently) only applies to compilation albums. I just live with the cluttered artist list. I've found that I eventually end up with at least one album from most guest artists, so they end up in the artist list anyway. The other thing to do, as you've noted, is just place the featured artist in the track title and don't tag them as an artist.
