The good thing about the PLDs is that timing is easier -- which us RT
types appreciate -- and I believe programming should also be simpler.

Do you have a contact in Cypress? I can try to find someone to push
them a little.

It's not just the money, but the interface and the hosting system.
What I really want is to be able to invoke a state machine gennerator
dynamically, have it generate a circuit, upload the circuit to the
hardware, all on line. Even ignoring the horrors of NT, the tools
are not designed with this kind of work in mind -- although I'm told
that Xilinx has some good tools of this sort hidden away.
