hi,

the answer is yes, and there are various programs you can use to speed
things up or fully automate them, my favorite is called syncback:

1. Download - SyncBack - Newest version | 2BrightSparks.com
Download Now!
Freeware Version
 -
Backup Software
 -
Folder Synchronization
 -
File Synchronization
www.2brightsparks.com/SyncBack
list end

if your system cam equipped with windows backup, it can be used to put all
your data onto a disk in a compressed format.
there are a few more that will work, I have a nicely accessible one that
could be set to copy your C drive, and a separate job of copying your D
drive, and you could put the two separate jobs into task manager to automate
them, and still be able to activate them manually, if you need more links
and info feel free to contact me off list and I'll make a full list of all
the names I have for you

The way I do it, it is as simple as copying files and folders.
I use Windows Explorer to highlight the folders and files I want to copy.
You could just highlight the, My Documents folder.
 Alt C, to copy
Then open the external drive and paste the files there, Alt V.
Then sit back and wait while the system does the copying.

Using Jaws 13 on an xp machine with office 2010.

For some time now, I am unable for some reason to view my outlook messages

delay I am simply back in the main message and windows explorer does not
open as usual. When I examine the screen with the jaws cursur, there is a

[JAWS-Users] daily information internet connection problems

2012-02-09 Thread David Ferrin
Daily Tip:
Fix A Dropped Internet Connection

If your Internet connection drops, the router or broadband modem may be to
blame. Start troubleshooting by unplugging the power cords from both devices.
Let them sit for a minute and then plug in the broadband modem. Once its status
light indicates that it has Internet access, plug in the router. Within a
minute or two, you should be back in business. Other actions that sometimes do
the trick: powering down (but not unplugging) your PC when you unplug the modem
and router, and pushing the Reset buttons (if present) on the back of your
modem and router for several seconds.

  Daily Term:
cloud

The definitions for cloud and cloud computing are still evolving and
subject to debate, but you'll find that many people are referring to online
services when they say something is in the cloud. Such services include
online photo-editing services, Web-based email services, online storage
services, and more. Businesses often think of cloud computing in terms of
scalability: Internet-based services that can scale to meet the changing usage
needs of a growing business. SaaS (Software as a Service), for example, is
software that his hosted online (instead of being installed to your computers).
It can be scaled for use by your growing company.

[JAWS-Users] new laptop/jaws 13

2012-02-09 Thread Kathy Pingstock
Good morning,

My husband surprised me with a new hp pavilion 64 bit laptop. He bought a
anti virus I am thinking it is web root not sure, it was already installed
on the unit.

Not really thinking I tried to install jaws 13 from the cd, halfway through
it froze up, I shut off the computer, I thought the cd had a problem, the
talking installed installed fine, when I got to set up it got stuck. So I
download the jaws 13 64 bit from the website of freedom, it all installed
fine I heard jaws talking and it ask to be restarted, well it started up
fine, got to the desktop it is stuck, can not do nothing, no jaws and the
mouse is stuck and my husband says it is not doing anything.

Is it possible that jaws and this anti virus is clashing together. I use mse
on my other units, but my husband did not know that.

He bought it from best buys, we are planning on taking it back today to see
if they can fix it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Kathy, I use MSSE and have been happy with it. I also purchased the pro
version of malwarebytes. When I bought my new Windows 7 computer at Staples
in December, the salesman was doing lots of upselling at the checkout. He
asked what I use for an antivirus program. I figured he would tell me MSSE
was not a good choice, but he didn't. I didn't buy any of the multiple
things he wanted me to buy. If I had it would have cost more than the
computer itself! MSSE and malwarebytes both work well on this computer with
JAWS 13.

2012-02-09 Thread Scott Meyer
Hi;
This has been going on for a while. I have Jaws 12 . When I move files to a
folder the first time it works as it should. if I try to move other files to a
different folder the only option I have is the last folder I move files into.
Jaws says something like (e drive Columbo one file) when I move back a level
and try it again it the same message. I cannot get jaws to read all the files
on the drive.
Any help ?Does this make sense?

Hit the Windows key and the pause key at the same time and then review the
screen with the JAWS cursor. If it does not say 64 bit then it is a 32 bit

Re: [JAWS-Users] daily information internet connection problems

2012-02-09 Thread tim

FYI, I wouldn't reset the router until computer is checked first.
Depending on your type of connection you can find both of these
solutions in device manager.
For wired you need network adaptors. your net card should be listed.
Just arrow down to it and hit application key and then chose disable.
After that is done do the same and chose enable.

For wireless same place and same method.
Now that they have ben turned off and turned on You should be seeing
at least a connection to the router or out to the Internet. If still
not then check and make sure this is running.

How to get to it on xp, vista or win8.
start menu, run. Type services.msc.
Now with xp you are looking for wireless zero with vista or win7 its
wlan. Now hit application key and chose start or restart. That one
will also stop you from seeing connection or even having one.
The main reason I say reset router last is, because if any changes
are made there you will lose them. A reset sets your router back to
factory defaults. Witch depending on router may reset all wireless settings.
I have found that most wireless connection failures are from the
external wireless shut off or internal settings. All laptops,
netbooks have these buttons and in the most strangest places. You
can identify them by blue color with a A with wavy lines on it. Most
of the time turning that off or back on will bring your connection back.

Fix A Dropped Internet Connection

If your Internet connection drops, the router or broadband modem may
be to blame. Start troubleshooting by unplugging the power cords
from both devices. Let them sit for a minute and then plug in the
broadband modem. Once its status light indicates that it has
Internet access, plug in the router. Within a minute or two, you
should be back in business. Other actions that sometimes do the
trick: powering down (but not unplugging) your PC when you unplug
the modem and router, and pushing the Reset buttons (if present) on
the back of your modem and router for several seconds.

  Daily Term:
cloud

The definitions for cloud and cloud computing are still evolving
and subject to debate, but you'll find that many people are
referring to online services when they say something is in the
cloud. Such services include online photo-editing services,
Web-based email services, online storage services, and more.
Businesses often think of cloud computing in terms of scalability:
Internet-based services that can scale to meet the changing usage
needs of a growing business. SaaS (Software as a Service), for
example, is software that his hosted online (instead of being
installed to your computers). It can be scaled for use by your growing company.

In outlook 2010 you have to view some of the messages in internet explorer

That is my problem. You use alt-h plus a plus v to do this. But that

Normally, Internet Explorer doesn't come into play if you are using an

Hi all

I don't know if this is a jaws issue or simply something else so if this is
off topic, please accept my apologies.

Using Jaws 13 on an xp machine with office 2010.

For some time now, I am unable for some reason to view my outlook messages
in internet explorer as usual. When I press alt.h plus 8a plus v after a
delay I am simply back in the main message and windows explorer does not
open as usual. When I examine the screen with the jaws cursur, there is a
message saying that the view is not available. I can't understand this at
all because I did not change anything.

Can anyone help?

Rick

In outlook 2010 you have to view some of the messages in internet explorer
in order that they display correctly. There is no other way to read them.

That is my problem. You use alt-h plus a plus v to do this. But that
command is not working anymore.

Hi André
A little confused here, are you trying to access your mail thru Outlook, or
logging directly into the mail server from the internet.
Normally, Internet Explorer doesn't come into play if you are using an
e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook.

Re: [JAWS-Users] new laptop/jaws 13

2012-02-09 Thread Steve
Well, since you haven't installed much on the laptop yet, the simplest thing
to do is to:

1. Hit f8 to go into safe mode. See if you can disable the anti-virus
program, or uninstall it and then install Jaws. Then, you can try either
re-enabling that AV program or dump it and use MSSE.

2. HP has a built-in recovery mode on the computer which you access with
the f11 key during bootup. If you run that, you can restore it to the
factory condition, which will mean that you won't have Webroot but it will
be just as it was purchased from the factory.

For info on the HP recovery manager, see
http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/cache/312352-0-0-225-121.html

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Make sure Outlook is not set to open all messages as plain text for this to
work.
On the File ribbon go to help, Options, trust center, trust center settings
button and e-mail security and tab until you hear Read all messages as plain
text.
Make sure this is not checked.
If this checkbox is checked JAWS key + shift + w to open in internet explorer
won't work.

Has the user account control been disabled?
If not, this will prevent the proper installation of any program.
The UAC window pops up whenever attempting to install a program, or change

Subject: [JAWS-Users] new laptop/jaws 13

Kathy

In outlook 2010 you have to view some of the messages in internet explorer
in order that they display correctly. There is no other way to read them.

That is my problem. You use alt-h plus a plus v to do this. But that

A little confused here, are you trying to access your mail thru Outlook, or
logging directly into the mail server from the internet.
Normally, Internet Explorer doesn't come into play if you are using an

Using Jaws 13 on an xp machine with office 2010.

For some time now, I am unable for some reason to view my outlook messages

delay I am simply back in the main message and windows explorer does not
open as usual. When I examine the screen with the jaws cursur, there is a

Make sure Outlook is not set to open all messages as plain text for this to
work.
On the File ribbon go to help, Options, trust center, trust center settings
button and e-mail security and tab until you hear Read all messages as
plain text.
Make sure this is not checked.
If this checkbox is checked JAWS key + shift + w to open in internet

[JAWS-Users] JFW 13 and Outlook 2010 issue

2012-02-09 Thread CrisMunoz54
Hello list,

I am tackling my new Win 7 machine with Outlook 2010 and have one of my
emails set up. I’m having one issue that I’m not sure what may be wrong or
if I’ve got some setting that needs adjusting.

When composing or replying to a message, the window seems to jump around on
me. If it’s a new email, I’ll be typing and after a few words, I’ll find
myself in either the start menu or desktop, same message window’s subject
field or main Outlook list view. I’m always having to alt tab back to the
message window or tab down from the subject field to get back to where I
want to type.

When replying to an email, I’m always being placed in the original email
text below. Again, this is after typing a few words.

I don’t’ know what I may or may not be doing and have to the best of my
knowledge checked and unchecked whatever necessary checkboxes in order for
JFW to better interact with Outlook. I thought I’d ask around here to see if
anyone else is experiencing this or if they had any ideas?

I’m writing this message on my old machine since the jumping around is
making it nearly impossible for me to compose a message on my new one.

Thanks,

There was actually a 64-bit version of Windows XP, but not accessible with
any screen-reader.
That's one of the reasons you never heard much about it.

Open Internet Options.

Hit alt-i to bring up the search providers dialog.

You can see your list of providers, disable anything you don't want, etc.

I use MSE on 4 computers with no problems. Even my lab computer has
it installed and that comp goes where no one dares go on the Internet
just to find viruses to play with. i still have no problem with MSE.
The others I wouldn't even bother with, because I feel if a virus or
spyware program can not tell a system file from virus or spyware.
Then its not doing its job at all!

Re: [JAWS-Users] JFW 13 and Outlook 2010 issue

2012-02-09 Thread Annette Carr
Here are some ideas to what you can try.

Are you using a laptop? If so, there is a chance that your thumbs or hands
are touching the mouse pad. If the mouse pad is set to click when you
lift your finger, you might be accidently moving the mouse. On most laptops
there is a way to turn the mouse pad off.

Turn JAWS off and have a sighted person use the computer and see if they
have the same problem. At some point I had a brand new laptop with the
mouse pointer embedded into the keyboard between the G and H keys that had a
short in it.

HTH,
Annette

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JFW 13 and Outlook 2010 issue

Hello list,

I am tackling my new Win 7 machine with Outlook 2010 and have one of my
emails set up. I'm having one issue that I'm not sure what may be wrong or
if I've got some setting that needs adjusting.

When composing or replying to a message, the window seems to jump around on
me. If it's a new email, I'll be typing and after a few words, I'll find
myself in either the start menu or desktop, same message window's subject
field or main Outlook list view. I'm always having to alt tab back to the
message window or tab down from the subject field to get back to where I
want to type.

When replying to an email, I'm always being placed in the original email
text below. Again, this is after typing a few words.

I don't' know what I may or may not be doing and have to the best of my
knowledge checked and unchecked whatever necessary checkboxes in order for
JFW to better interact with Outlook. I thought I'd ask around here to see if
anyone else is experiencing this or if they had any ideas?

I'm writing this message on my old machine since the jumping around is
making it nearly impossible for me to compose a message on my new one.

Thanks,
