I agree with the big vacuum leak scenario. I had a power brake booster check valve come apart on my car, it looked OK until I grabbed it, then I could see that it had split in two. Look for any leaks in the big vacuum lines from the carb to the booster and to the PCV valve. BillL At 08:21
