FWIW, one of the features of Mac OS 10.5 is supposed to be a resolution-independent UI -- so that the menubar will always be, e.g., 1/4" tall, regardless of screen size and resolution. This is supposed to create uniform legibility for UI elements, even on displays with very small pixels.
