Hi Jim.
I had the same problem with my 5000A. Turned out to be the FireWire driver.
What OS are you using? I'm running Windows 8 64 bit and forgot to install as
administrator. Reinstalled starting the installer using "Run as". This solved
the problem

I have now been running PowerSDR 2.6.4 for a few days, and I like what I see,
but I have two questions:
1) Is there a known problem with the FireWire driver? The application
bombs out some times, and I then will lose contact with the device and I'm
informed that I have to upgrade the firm
I have now reinstalled, and this time there was no problems. Works like a
dream, but I have no idea what went wrong the first time. Was afraid I had
bricked the radio, but problem was that the FireWire driver had not been
properly installed the first time.

I tried to upgrade PowerSDR on my computer running Windows 8, but could not
connect to my Flex-5000A after the upgrade. I opened a service ticket and was
informed that there might have been a problem programming the EEPROM, and I was
afraid I had to send in the radio to have it repaired. I then
It's all in the manual. Found how to enable the balanced input, and it turned
out that the pre-amplifier was working, but all the LEDs on the amplifier was
not. Now I am happy, and the problem I have had with RF feedback on bands
higher than 20 meter are gone! Sorry for my Heil HM-5, that's mon
Hi Armin
I have a Flex5000A, and the balanced microphone is connected to the jack input.
I don't have a foot switch, and I am not very happy if I have to resolder my
original mic contact to make some kind of PTT arrangement.

Hi
Tim Ellison had the right answer. I reset to default settings, and everything
fine - so far.
BTW I have a Flex5000A, and I'm VERY happy with my station!

Hi
Downloaded and installed version 2.5.3 some days ago, and now I found that 17
meter does not work. When I try to choose any frequency in the 17 M band, I
just here a relay click, but there is no sound. I can see signals in the
waterfall and the panadapter, but only a very weak sound output i
Have just upgraded to version 2.5.3. Should I now remove the old version?

Com0Com does not provide a signed driver for Windows 7 64 bit, so I agree with
Dave. The other option would be to disable checking of 64 bit drivers in
Windows 7, but you would not want to do that?

I am not absolutely sure, but I have tested on my FLEX-5000A, and it seems to
work:
1) You need two receivers and 2 antennas
2) You must set up VAC1 and VAC2 different, one with I/Q and one without.
3) You must define the right format for the audio in the control program (Cable
Rage)
Now you ca

I have downloaded Linrad, and want to try to configure for my Flex-5000A, but
so far no luck. It stops when I try to set up the sound card. The configuration
program displays the available ports, but I cannot select anything from the DOS
box.
Anyone out there who knows how to configure?

Then try a ferrite bead on the mic cable.

Not good.
All I can suggest is better shielded mike cable and ferrite chokes on the mike
cable and probably all other cables as well.

Antenna is Butternut HF6V mounted on the barn
trial and error testing. It is not a fault of the
radio unfortunately.

I have had my FLEX-5000A for a couple of months now, and I love it. Get great
reports on audio on all bands, (haven't tested 6 meter yet, since I don't have
an antenna for this band), but on 10 meter they complain about really bad RF in
the audio. What can be the cause, and what can I do about i
Have your system been working ok until now, and if so what changes have been
done?
There are several things you might try
1. If system has been working ok before, go back to an earlier restore point.
2. Uninstall all software you don't use
3. Update drivers, especially video drivers
Good luck
I have tested DDUtil myself, but stick to WSPR, when I can redirect both CAT
and PTT using two pairs of connector / splitter. Have not been able to do
anything with DDUtil, which I also find very complex.

Just had a major problem with the ATU myself on a brand new 5000A. Could only
tune a few band, and SWR went up, not down. Turned out that the ATU model was
not discovered. The local vendor asked me to do a HW discover on the system,
and reset the database, and I can now tune all bands, except 60
My problem with JT65-HF is now solved, thanks for all the input!
Problem was that I tried to use DDUtil to share PTT among different
applications, and it looks like this is not supported.
Dedicated another com pair for PTT and JT65-HF, and now it works like a dream.

I have had my Flex-5000A for a bit more than a month, and have not been active
for decades. Got my A-license back in the sixties but was active while I was in
the army and had access to the stuff I needed. Now I am retiring, and I am
happy to be back, slowly picking up CW, which was my favorite
