I've got a Sharp 722. It is said to have an autonomy of about ten hours
in plays mode and 8 when you record. But I have the impression that the
real autonomy is inferior to what is claimed by Sharp. How do they
measure the autonomy? At which volume and which bass level (0, 1, 2, 3)?
I always

I dispute this assertion. The transport need only be sufficiently "isolated"

Sharp's news releases state the following:

playback - measured with playback volume at 15.
On Sharp portables, volume directly relates to power consumption. I've read

I don't know if all 831s are built alike, but this happens to mine.
If I place it in my pocket, so that the pickup is moving up-down, it skips
very easily, and takes awfully long to recover. Often there's a noise that
follows this - as if the pickup fell down the worm gear all the way to one
Does anyone know if:
1) Sony changers (MD/CD) uni-link can be adapter-converted to work with
other manufacturer HU for cheap ?
Yeah - there are a few ways to do this..
There is a rather "expensive" box that was designed for
use to adapt early Sony chagners to non changer equipped head
unit
Hi,
I have a sharp minidisc and was wondering if I can use standard rechargeable
batteries in there? Or are they Sharp specific?
thanks

Indirectly true.
2nd how do I convert wav files to mp3's?
Look at the WWW.ANALOG.COM site, and look under AUDIO Software. There you
can find a program that converts between WAV - MP3 and MP3 - WAV.

Thought I would add this to the discussion: The amps with digital I/O that
are available now are analog amplifiers with built-in D/A convertors. Some
of the high-end models use DSP for level, tone/equalization, reverb, etc,
but all eventually convert the signal to analog and pass it through an
You have to use your rechargeable battery. For the external battery case and
which type of battery is allowed, you'd better check your user manual for
details. But I'd say that the use of rechargeable AA batteries isn't
recommended. I may be wrong but that's what I think.

You can use regular rechargeable, but you probably can't charge them
inside the unit. Rechargeable battery packs usually have additional
connections, inside the packaging/wrapping, that connect the internal
terminals and the charging unit.

I have a question for Windoze gurus. Can I turn off file locking on
a file? On occasion, I'd love to start playing the files I record
before the recording is finished but the file is locked until the
recording is finished.
As far as I know this cannot be done ... it's all down to the

I'm happy to report that the DA cable (as well as the TOSLINK) that I
got from from Audience Digital Products (www.audiencedp.com), in
conjunction with the Guillemot card noted in the subject, are working
beautifully together, and with my Sharp MT15.
I'm now in the process of rerecording all my

would the "expensive box" work the other way around?
i.e. could you connect the changer control cable coming from a Sony
head-unit which DOES have changer capability to the box and in turn connect
the box to a cable with RCAs leading to a 3.5 mm plug - allowing you to
hook an MD/CD portable

and go portable, is
