I used Jedi's (Bob Swart's) Header Converter tool to convert the
Dll/BladeMP3Enc.h file to a pas unit. The output is mostly OK but screwed up
in a few places and needs to be cleaned up manually. Dont know if its the
converter tool or the input file format thats causing it. If anyone is
interested

Upper frequency limit depends on the average bit rate.
It sounds better to reduce hi
I just committed changes so that lame_decoder() writes native endian raw pcm
data when disabling WAV header (-t), this can ofcos be overridden by -x, in
which case it will byteswap the data like you'd expect... ;)

When decoding mp3s to .wav (1) and using Cool Edit's Spectral View (2), to my
surprise I've noticed an obvious treble cut beyond 16KHz on VBR mp3s (3) I've
encoded with LAME. Is this intentional?
Fortunately CBR mp3s (4) do not appear to suffer the same audio degredation.

Yep, this is an HTML message with some Javascript code in it.
It seems that the script decode another part, looks like a virus :) (or maybe :(
That's why HTML or scripting shouldn't be allowed in e-mails...

Hi Arne,
Thanks for finding this. This was a subtle & rare bug in CBR,
triggered by the -k option.
(-k, by the way, is *always* a bad idea. It overrides LAME's
default lowpass filters. It will cause ringing and twinking
at 128kbs)
Note to developers and -X6 fans:
The problem is in frame 232

mpegrec. http://www.netwaysglobal.com/mpegrec/
win32 binary in http://www.
For me, it contained a VBS scripts that ZoneAlarm (Windows) would not let
run .. I suspect it had a virus in it, but I deleted it as soon as I saw it.
Outlook Express wanted to run it without me opening the message :) MS is so
cool! I suspect it was just a vehical for a script virus.
Can anyone

I've noticed that the speed of GOGO is INSANE! (due to some massive ASM
optimations i guess)
Now, to the question, is any1 even optimizing LAME or is it still "under
development" (quality) and will it be ASM optimized for some serious speed
improvments, i know it fast now, very fast on my 850 p II
Forget about it. It´s an old (I mean, _really_ old) joke in portuguese

And the girl who sent it (don´t know who is she, or even if is a
girl...) is asking for an answer (like how long takes a guy doing

Any idea how I get LAME to compile with Vorbis support?

If you have an implementation of the blade dll, you
can use the same one with the lame dll.
The only point is that you can't use the Boolean
type, you have to use the LongBool API type.
I wrote a Delphi 4 unit to encode WAV files using
the lame DLL, but I don't use the blade header format.
Could anyone please tell me the difference in the header for the lame dll
versus the bladeenc dll.
Having seen the almost fourfold speed increase of lame I definitely want to
continue with lame.
From a previous posting from Albert Faber I understand that the
interface is very similar to blade
