I don't know much but AFAIK they're the same guys (guy?) behind the two Soundhack 12"s and also the Soundstream EP. I think they've also done something under the Errorsmith name but I might well be wrong. The Soundhack 12"s are great - the only kind of minimal house I really dig cos its still got that jackin' cut-up feel to it. MMM is erik & fiedel, errorsmith is just erik. erik once said he _feels_ related to the soundhack/ soundstream releases but soundhack actually is a guy called frank. there are two MMM releases so far, the first was the electro cut/ re-ticks EP which is quite hard and industrial electro stuff, like armin said. and the second one is the donna release. there will be an album of erik (errorsmith) and soundhack very soon called Smith & Hack... if anyone of you happens to be in berlin on friday dec 7th, there is the Smith & Hack record release party with Smith & Hack playing live; djs: rene & pete (chain reaction, hardwax), and soundhack. looking forward to that. ines -- http://www.circonium.de - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] some records.
Thanks Janos! That site is most helpful, hell 'Parallel' is just by Bernd Maus, and while the on/off stuff and the Gadgets Special 'Be Real' release DO sound alot like Carola, the stuff on the Gadgets label sounds completely distinct. In fact there's only one release after Gadgets 9, called 'Sky' and it's full of melodic big room techno! Perfect. Re: [313] OT Gas,Sturm...?
I thought the question was for stuff like Gas and Sturm? Kitty Yo may posses some pop ambient in the darker vein, but not a lot. Ware and Dial are both good minimal-tech house labels but put out no ambient. Porter Ricks 'Biomechaniks' on Force is a wonderfully disturbing album full of beat juxtaposition, and grainy noise. DIN puts out some of the finest IDM but is by no means ambient, even the Monolake release is a dubby breakbeat affair. Pole's stuff is again close but still a dub beat oriented. The Scape label has never put out an ambient release, all releases thus far have been in the IDM/lounge range. The pop ambient stuff on kompakt is certainly fitting. Of the releases before Kompakt 30 only the Dettinger LP's are similar to Gas and Sturm. After KOM 30, the release schedule seems interspersed with pop ambient. There was also a Gas release in around KOM 40-45, its not quite the same as 'Pop' more guitars and more subtle beats. The Traum label is certainly similar, though only half the releases are strictly ambient (mostly the Phillipe Cam releases) and they have been moving towards a tech-house feel as well. There is also an excellent Stewart Walker EP on Mille Plateaux called 'Granular Synthesis' which features completely unsequenced synth ambience. As well some of the latter Chain Reaction pieces come to mind, Matrix, Hallucinator, Fluxion and V. Delay all have EP's with some ambience on them (the Fluxion LP 'Bi-Polar Defect' is my favourite). There is also a whole range of microsound'ish stuff that I have yet to explore but promises to be much in the same vein. Yeah, that's part of what it was about, but Levine was also known as being the main man for it. His parents owned some successful businesses in Blackpool, and he was one of the first Northern Soul DJ's to fly over to the US with the intention of going to old warehouses and shops to buy rare soul. He also became a pariah at one of the other famous clubs, the Wigan Casino, due to him pushing newer records rather than just 'oldies'.
