Okay this maybe among the most rare. Dopplereffekt put out a 7 prior to any 12 releases. I don't actually own it. The copy I've seen belongs to a friend, who also owns a 12 by a pre-drexciyan - It must date back to the 80's, and features some of the same drum programming heard years later on the Wavejumper EP. Personally I've always kept an eye open for the Psychofuk 12 on matrix, first shown to me years ago by a fellow listmember. i think drama 1 was repressed. i thought i saw it on groovetech mailing list. nice track. i was just listening to the 2LP on drama yesterday. i forgot how fresh the piano tracks are on the C side. they remind me of some a couple piano tracks off larry heards Loves Arival. i just got the new point blank cd, hoods got this track that almost sounds like dan bell. slower 120bpm, lots of click/clack sounds... with deep synth sounds very minimal its called the body human. that track and Who tought you math IMO the best tracks on the cd. i listened the the new mills cd today. im impressed. its got a every dog has it day feel to it. mills has this new melody style with some of his newer stuff. such as time machine. the only way i can describe it is melody with randomness...it works though. out ryan burns From: Trevor Wilkes [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: Trevor Wilkes [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) RE: [313] What would you consider to be your rarest 313 record? http://www.adapteri.com/betoni is my favourite site at the moment. This is a huge Finnish archive of dubby techno and electro. I discovered it months ago and still haven't found the time to listen to them all. Check if you like your Basic Channel-type grooves and glacial electronica. (313) Clicking noises on Minimal Nation
I've just bought a copy of Robert Hood's Minimal Nation, and the two tracks on side A of the first record produce quiet clicks on top of the music. I'm not sure if they're arrthymic or rhythmic in a reasonably sophisticated way. I bought the record used, and normally I would assume these sounds to be the result of defects. I did read somewhere, however, of some of Rob Hood's music (I forget which) involving almost random-sounding clicking noises. Is clicking indeed a feature of Minimal Nation, or have I just got marks on my record? I thought this list was bound to be full of knowledgeable people, so I took the liberty of asking you all. Thanks very much for any advice. Robin Howells
(313) Weird old techno records - want to get your trainspotting caps on?
I found some mysterious 313-related items in my local record shop that I thought some of you guys might be interested in and might be able to shed some light on. One is a 12 with a plain red label with TB-606 EP handwritten on it (this is presumably a combination of TR-606 and TB-303, or a mistake). There are 6 tracks I think of rather good, techno made entirely with a 303 and a 606. I guess what it most reminds me of is some of the early Rephlex stuff like Universal Indicator. But what's interesting is that the guy assures me that it's a test-pressing done by the R S label, although he doesn't know who's responsible for the music. I can find no evidence of any such thing being ever released by R S, so is he wrong or is this something that never made it to a full release, do you think? Slightly more straightforward are two early Metroplex releases. One is an unmarked white label bearing the handwritten legend 'Metroplex', and it certainly sounds like something that would genuinely be a Metroplex release. It also says Olly on it - but I think that's just the guy who owned it - and has Passion Records stamped on it, which I assume is the shop that originally sold it. The other is a copy of Shake's 5% Solution on Metroplex, also featuring 3 other tracks: Mindless Entertainment, Day of Reckoning, and My Name Is Binky. Can anyone advise me as to whether this is at all rare or valuable? If not, it's still a very nice, and frankly insane-sounding, release. Thanks in advance if anyone can supply any information! I'd particularly like to find what the so-called R S thing might be. Robin Howells
RE: (313) Weird old techno records - want to get your trainspotti ng caps on?

RE: (313) Weird old techno records - want to get your trainspotti ng caps on?
There must be several represses then because (my memory may be failing me here) my blue one definitely says Innovations... and I am pretty sure the red one does. Kosmik Kommando is Mike Dred, not AFX, and was responsible for at least some of the Universal Indicator EPs if not all. AFX was rumoured to be involved with one of them but I don't think so. (313) Lonodn Propaganda Bar - System
Well I thought I shoudl give a report on the new nite in London called System run by Marco Carola every Thurs. Last nite saw Terry Mitchell, Ben Sims and Umek take the decks. Terry played some nice stuff to begin the nite with. Ben was good with his normal tribal funky beats but it just didn't go anywhere. Umek certainly showed that he can take the mixing to a different level but he played the normal euro techno but he also played some detroit techno but never capitalised on it. Musically I think Terry wins as he played a more varied set and managed to keep it interesting. Umeks mixing is good , he oves the effects and sometimes its overkill but his skills are good. Sims again technically great but it stayed on tribal stuff. The club is ok, a real mixture of ok people but some real fuking poncey people man! crickey ,I mean some people feel is a necessaty to bump into you! that does my head in and I was close to causing a ruck and I hate fighting but man some people did wind me up.. Well the next lot seem ok as well. Its not bad for Thursday and it certainly is drawing a younger techno crowd, so things can't be that bad :0) --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. possibly a metronome click track? MEK robin howells [EMAIL PROTECTED]To: 313@hyperreal.org k cc: Subject: (313) Clicking noises on Minimal Nation 09/27/02 05:20 AM I've just bought a copy of Robert Hood's Minimal Nation, and the two tracks on side A of the first record produce quiet clicks on top of the music.

I've got that and it's actually got some quality tracks on it. There's loads of talking on it which sound like AFX and his mates on acid, laughing hysterically. That individual channels thing reminds me of KMS's Forces with the vocal track on two different channels. A MUCH better record though. -Original Message- From: Gerald [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 3:55 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: (313) Weird old techno records Since we're on the topic of weird old techno records... and Aphex Twin/Rephlex records. I have to mention Analogue Bubblebath Volume 3... this one takes the cake. Comes in a brown paper bag, with a sheet... INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE [Tracks 4/5 located at lock-groove] For listening in the domestic environment, arrange the cartridge connections of your tonearm so that either the left or right channel are redundant in order to hear each recording individually (alternatively set the balance of your amplifier/mixer to the appropriate position). Increasing the proportion of low frequency through your equaliser should limit the effect of inevitable cross-talk between tracks. Re: (313) Nick Luscombe (?) @big chill (was CiM)
talk of the big chill reminded me of this guy Nick Luscombe, of whom i'd not heard before but nevertheless really impressed. Beautiful minimal sounds on the main stage at sun set. Any one know any more about him? You've probably seen this already, but this is what it says on the Big Chill website: Nick's the man behind XFM's Sunday night Flo-motion show, which always features a wonderfully exotic selection of deep house, electronica, soundtracks, ambient and techno. He is also the man behind the decks at Hakkasan, the new West End restaurant and bar, not to mention some forthcoming events in Moscow. So make the most of him while he's here. Cheers, Tom
