Fragile 018 and 019

2000-09-30 Thread JavierDrada
Just recieved 2 new Fragile releases,
John Arnold - "Fragile 18"
This one is kinda hard to describe but I'll give it a shot,
On side A, we have a breakbeaty, funky to the maxx,
tech house stomper, yeah heavy on the tech,
oh man, you gotta hear it to believe it,
fresh sounds fer sure.
Then we have 2 tracks on the B side, the first
clocking in at 129 bpm, this track has a heavy marching
band sound that will have you standing there with UR jaw
laying there on the ground, heavy drum rolling throughout,
nice bassline to boot, some jazzy elements are present, gotta love it.
The second track on the B is a light almost drum'n bassy
real abstrakt, sounding house, some drum rolling tossed in
for good thoughts, yummy. 9/10

The Vanisher - "The Temporary ep" - Fragile-019
The beginning kicks off kinda on the dark ambient tip,
while after some time a slowed down, mellow spastik
bassline builds, till UR standing there trembling, it's true, it's true.
Throughout the track you get some sax stabs, and some
flute sounds, no doubt, good stuff here.
Then to the B side, two tracks.
The first being a track that clocks in at 125,
man, all I can say is that this tech house,
yes, the emphasis on house, and has a
deep bassline that floats throughout, well done.
This is something that would fit in well in the Time:Space comp.
The second track is a short trip on a subway train,
with some trippy, funky, abstrak, sounds that pop in and out
Quality stuff, no doubt. 9/10

I'll se if Javier can post the releases on our website,
www.undergroundcommittee.com
for you guys to enjoy on real audio.
  peace out,
  Dave G.

Re: [313] Can Promoters & DJs resolve their differences?

2000-11-04 Thread JavierDrada
TP Some people just don't get it, newschoolers need allot of education, [EMAIL
PROTECTED] 'em is what I gotta say, people act stupid cause they
think they can get away with it, facts are facts the approach is unethical and
there is no need arguing about it.

Subject: [313] Can Promoters & DJs resolve their differences?

: Greetings From TP!
:
: I am sharing the following information with this list in hopes that it will
: create a basis for positive dialog / discussion of how we as DJs & Promoters
: work with each other to achieve the common goal of a banging party with a
: "REAL RIGHT" vibe!
: I especially hope that any aspiring / up-and-coming DJs and/or Promoters on
: this list will take away something valuable which they can use.
:
: Today Carl (the promoter behind the HOUSE EXPLOSION event) and I spoke
: regarding the controversy centered on the flyer for the HOUSE EXPLOSION 2000
: event. This morning I sent an e-mail to which he responded by phone and
: agreed to ALL of my demands to resolve this issue of the improper use of my
: name.
:
: Today I received 11 e-mail letters from cats who see nothing wrong with a
: person's name being listed on a flyer as a SPECIAL INVITED GUEST.
: Furthermore, they asked why I was making such a big deal about it, and
: thought I should be honored by the invitation. Well, I was honored! But how
: fine is the honor if it is bitter sweet?
: I understand that many of us on this list are in various countries throughout
: the world where the laws governing such matters are different. However, being
: here in the USA, let me try to make my point by using an example . . . . .
:
: . . . . LET'S SAY I DECIDED TO THROW A PARTY AT THE STATE THEATER IN DETROIT
: ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT. I THEN DRAFT A LETTER OF INVITATION TO MICHAEL JACKSON. I
: THEN FAX THE LETTER TO MICHAEL JACKSON'S MANAGEMENT COMPANY. I NEVER GET A
: RESPONSE FROM MICHAEL JACKSON, OR ANY OF HIS REPRESENTATIVES. HOWEVER, I TAKE
: IT UPON MYSELF TO MAKE FLYERS ADVERTISING MY CHRISTMAS PARTY AT THE STATE
: THEATER WITH SPECIAL INVITED GUEST - MICHAEL JACKSON!
:
: I ASK YOU, MY FRIENDS, HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IT WOULD TAKE BEFORE MICHAEL'S
: LEGAL TEAM WOULD TAKE ACTION AGAINST ME? WOULD I BE WRONG TO ADVERTISE
: MICHAEL'S NAME AS A SPECIAL INVITED GUEST? AFTER ALL, I DIDN'T SAY THAT HE
: WAS GOING TO PERFORM RIGHT? I DIDN'T EVEN SAY THAT HE WAS GOING TO BE THERE.
: ALL I SAID WAS THAT HE WAS A SPECIAL INVITED GUEST. IN FACT, I COULD PROVE
: THAT I DID INDEED INVITE MR. JACKSON BY PRESENTING THE LETTER ALONG WITH A
: COPY OF THE VERIFIED FAX TRANSMISSION TO MICHAEL'S MANAGEMENT WHICH STATES
: THAT I AM INVITING HIM TO ATTEND MY EVENT. SO I ASK YOU GOOD PEOPLE, IF MIKE,
: NOR HIS PEOPLE RESPOND TO MY INVITATION, DO I HAVE THE RIGHT TO USE HIS NAME
: IN ANY MANNER (EVEN AS A SPECIAL INVITED GUEST) IN PROMOTION OF MY EVENT?
:
:
: WHY DID I MAKE SUCH A BIG DEAL ABOUT THIS? BECAUSE I HAVE TO TAKE A STAND ON
: WHAT I BELIEVE IS RIGHT, NOT ONLY BECAUSE IT AFFECTS ME, BUT BECAUSE SOMEDAY
: (IF NOT TODAY) IT COULD AFFECT YOU!
: MY POSITION WAS BASED UPON A PRINCIPLE WHICH IS PERSONAL TO ME, BUT COMMON TO
: ALL OF US.
:
: FOR THE RECORD DELANO SMITH FELT AS I DID, AND ALSO EXPRESSED HIS CONCERN
: OVER BEING LISTED ON THE FLYER. AS I UNDERSTAND IT,
: HE TOO HAS RESOLVED HIS ISSUE WITH THE PROMOTER.

Larry Heard Archive & News

2000-11-07 Thread JavierDrada
Larry Heard News:

Up now Larry Heard Session 3.1 and 3.2 at http://www.undergroundcommittee.com

If you have not experienced the Legend, now is the time. Brand new mixes by
none other than the man himself, Larry Heard founder and
owner of Alleviated Records & Music.

 Also,

Alleviated Records has recently reactivated and is now being distributed by the
Brooklyn based label Track Mode Recordings.
Alleviated is proud to announce a proper release schedule with old and new
titles soon to be available! One of which Alleviated is
proud to present , the "Symbiosis" EP from Chicago Producer/DJ, Bernard Badie.
Bernard is back, with an Ep that every DJ enthusiast
of "Deep House" music would want to have. At least one copy of this piece
should be a part of any comprehensive collection. Bernard
teamed up with a couple of friends, Joe Hall and Clara McElroy on a tune
called, "Oxygen", a really DEEP selection with 2 mixes for
your DJing, listening, and dancing pleasure. The track is very reminiscent of
"OLD SCHOOL" selections from the "Windy City" Chicago.
The original underground version is a bit more DJ freindly with a driving flow
and raw beats. Underground party atmospheres will be
the perfect place to put the needle on the groove (Hint!). With Club and Chart
hits like, "What About Love?" and "Shine" (to name
just a couple), the label Alleviated Records played a foundational role in the
development of the Dance Music scene that we
currently enjoy. There is a lot of history behind this imprint. The future
seems to be even brighter at this point.

Track Listing:

Side A:
1. Oxygen [5:38]

Side B:

The original underground version is a bit more DJ friendly with a driving flow
and raw beats.

Side B:
1. Oxygen (Original Underground Version) [5:28]
2. Move To The Beat [5:16]

Street Date: November 20, 2000

: I read those articles posted by Javier yesterday, the

: Once again though, great article. I thought Cyclone

Subject: [313] Very old 80's id's

: Hello friends, I need id's for these songs.
:
: The first has a chick saying, "The dominatrix sleeps
: tonight" and it has a catchy little electro sound.
: I'm guessing it's 89' or 90'?
:
: Next is an 80's dance sounding number. I believe it's
: a remix type thing. The song sounds kind of
: depechemodeish/camoflauge style. He sings, "Why would
: you crucify me". Only it's like, "Whhyyy would
: youuu... Crucfyyy m." then it goes into a
: little depeche style synth. Any ideas?
:
: The last one has a guy in a raspy kind of voice
: saying,
: "well their is no love between us, anyyymoore" And it
: has a dark little synth after he says that. There's
: also samples of some lady saying, "he loves me, he
: loves me not" And there's a madonna sample saying,
: "Yeahhah" A little guitar sample too. Pretty clubby
: late 80's sounding. any ideas? thanks a lot.

Knowing where he gets most of his material from I would say that they were all
whites, which really sucks sometimes cause you know
who the artist may be or the label but sometimes there is no tracklisting or

RE: (313) UR Shocker...

2002-09-30 Thread javierdrada
The problem here is everyone here is making assumptions about what UR did. No
one here knows anything about what happened to that track and what it's
popularity caused.

Mike Banks relinquished that record when it became major. At first it was cool
but then things just got ugly and Mike decided to drop the record from the UR
catalogue and give it over to 430 West who marketed it all over the place.
Which is good and bad depending on how you look at it. UR is far from being
that much in the spotlight and UR is not responsible for the licensing of that
record anymore. Ask 430 West as, I am sure they have legitimate reasons for
it.

BEFORE YOU(ANYBODY) MAKES ASSUMPTIONS... Know the FACTS!!!

RE: (313) UR Shocker...

2002-09-30 Thread javierdrada
Good Lord, some people just want to twist the facts, Like I said no one here
knows the story nor what took place because of it and I am in no postion to
explain things that were shared with me in confidence.

If you wish to continue being ignorant and making false assumptions about
things that you have no clue about, then by all means continue making an ASS
out of yourself.

Peace...

Sometimes I wonder why I got back on this list...

If anyone has been having problems connecting to Flyfm for Detroit Influence or

change your connection settings on your Real Player from 56kpbs Modem to
256kpbs DSL/Cable. We are broadcasting at a higher bandwidth (44kpbs) for

What Is Up With 313?

2000-06-10 Thread JavierDrada
Is it me or does it seem like a ton of people have dropped off 313, what is
going on here the discussions seem to be less and less relevant, when good
topics are posted no one responds, I dropped a Planet E commentary on DEMF to
try to steer the discussions in a different direction and no deal, the thing
that really strikes me is how little Detroit talk there is. I mean there are a
whole bunch of 12"s no one has bothered to discuss lots of new 430 and KMS and
other goods that never made it on the list, Are things here getting stale or
are all the Intelligent folks off somewhere else? Where is Mr. Duke with all
his reviews and stuff? I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone...

I suggest you go see DJ Hell, Afrika Bambaataa will surely disapoint you, I
opened up for them in Miami a few years back, and unfortunately I have to
agree with everyone else, weak...even the new stuff they put out is
weak, I think they got caught up in the mill and started churning out
commercial grade velveata cheeze. Just my 2 cents.

Re: [313] Hipnotech: hip-hop from Submerge

2000-06-13 Thread JavierDrada
This is exactly what I am referring to I have had all of these for some time
now, some are more than a year old, these records are some serious stuff,
probably no one has thought of it because everyone sticks something in a
bin, hip-hop, house, techno etc. If you own any of these you had better try
and flip it to 45 -8, these things turn into some serious House-Tech stuff,
pretty funky stuff, another UR innovation in full effect. Some of the pieces
definitely go both ways, check it out and tell me if I am wrong.

Just got hold of V-max's new one V984 @Brunner "There was a Day" EP. As soon as
I get a listen or as soon as Dave does we will update you... But if anyone out
there deep in 313 land has caught a glimpse of this one, please share, as I
probably won't have a chance to check it till later this week.

Re: [313] Bottom Feeders

2000-06-19 Thread JavierDrada
Man that record is the bomb, I don't know who the Artist is but it is sweet,
melodic, and tight in the programming.
I especially like the strings, they give it that extra touch, I am stuck on
the pretty side. The other side is harder, good to though.

Classic Kraftwerk Find

2000-06-24 Thread JavierDrada
Just picked up the original 1974 pressing of Kraftwerk's, "Autobahn" and the
original 1975 pressing of Kraftwerk's, "Radio-Activity". Never heard
Radio-Activity and I doubt if it will come out of the sleeve, can anybody
clue me in? I know there is a 1993 repressing of it and I have seen it on
CD.

Re: [313] Classic Kraftwerk Find

2000-06-24 Thread JavierDrada
I found these records at this local vintage record shop called Magic Bus,
they actually have a pretty big selection of some pretty obscure stuff, when
I was there yesterday they were playing this French record that I tried to
bargain for, they were asking $20, I offered $15, but anyway this record was
much like Namlooks, "Dark Side of the Moog" series. The interesting part was
it was produced in 1972. It was nothing like the Tangerine or Hawke stuff of
the early 70's, this record was very much like modern day FAX material. I
will have to go back and see if I can get it. I also picked up some
Kraftwerk repressings of which they had quite a few. If anyone is looking
for any classic electronic 70's material give them a call, they have a
pretty extensive catalog. I even saw some collectors, "Stereo Lab" vinyl
pieces.

Downtempo?

2000-06-24 Thread JavierDrada
I just picked up the "Bossa Mundo...When Brazil Meets The World,"
compilation on Wave Music.

This compilation is superb, downtempo Bossa, Jazz, Latin, African Rhythms
which slowly evolves into some profound House textures. The Inlay says,
"Welcome to the Japan-Europe Sound Gallery, the ultimate collection of Jazz
and Afro-Brazilian grooves" This piece was compiled and edited by A&R's,
Alain Ho, Chris the French Kiss, Francois Kevorkian & Rob Sperte. The
purpose of this album, as stated, is to invite the entire world to discover
the authentic, dynamic underground sound of the new-jazz scene. Blending
ethereal soundscapes with hypnotic rhythms and sensuous acoustic
instruments, "Bossa Mundo, when Brazil meets the World" is an ode to
ecstatic diversity, richness and open-minded values, a soothing and serene
pathway into the new millennium.

...and as Larry Heard says, this is music for mature audiences and deep
individuals. I was absolutely taken away by sound presented in this
compilation, it is definitely for a more grown up audience, mind you by
grown up I mean mature in mind, and I would suggest that if you pick this
one up you find some good company turn down the lights and
chiill, cause it definitely creates an atmosphere
for intelligent conversation.

another very similar piece is, "More Bossa" on Yellow Records.

Reflections/Detroit Influence Update.......

2000-06-24 Thread JavierDrada
If anyone was wondering, We are temporarily experience some major technical
malfunctions. It happens to be that Flyfm decided to move servers and ISP
but that little upgrade opened up a whole new can of worms. The people who
did the original site registered the url under their name so I think you
know what went on nextwhen the move took place none of the information
could be verified because it was under a different name, you know how it is
with all this modern day technology deal. Anyway I think they finally got a
hold of the parties involved and the corrections are in process. The word is
probably another week. So, in all I would like to apologize for the
interruption in the underground vibes transmission. Flyfm should be
operational by next weekend, so they say, and we will resume broadcasting at
that point. Until then, well we will just sit back and enjoy all these new
tunes on our own. See ya back on the air soon..

New KMS

Just got the new KMS-070 Gary Martin & KMS-071 DJ Dwayne Jensen.

Can anybody shed some light on DJ Dwayne Jensen, as I am not to familiar
with who he is. Also KMS has been busting out some killer tracks lately, it
all seems to go in phases. First Metroplex came out with a string of dope
tracks, now KMS, who is next, Transmat? I guess we get it in small bits,
nice stuff, I must admit. Anyhow as soon as Dave soaks these up we should
get some kind of reviews...also that V-Max - V984, that record kicks,
nice and dark, pure funk electro. Dave says its one of the best V-Max's so
far. Give it a try and see what you think...

New KMS-070, 071 Review

2000-07-02 Thread JavierDrada
Just had to change the "s" word to bomb and reinvent the "p" word which was
reinvented from the "f" word to another, so here it is, thanks Mr. Smiley
for the tip...

Tuesday, June 27, 2000 9:57 PM

Hello to all,
Man have I got to say for sure that KMS is definitely on a roll, I just got
a listen to KMS-070 and KMS-071 and I must admit that these are very
impressive pieces.

GARY MARTIN KMS-070
Sorry no titles on these babies, but Side A, clocking in about 139 bpm, this
Gary Martin special is a beaut!!! Imagine a Jaguarish sound with those
Martin stabs here and there, the chords are just beautiful, u can't miss
with this one. On the B side we have a well done not to hard of a Detroit
techno on the house side stomper. This one rides right on the edge leaving a
Mill'ish kind of feal in the back of your mind when you listen to it. Good
layering, this baby clocks in at about 144 bpm, my opinion, his best!!!
MUST HAVE 9.5/10

DJ Dwayne Jensen KMS-071
Go straight to the A side cause that is where it's at. Lushish sounds that
take you through a journey of Detroit Techno on the House side sound. Very
well done, this one also rides right on the edge, bpms at about 145. I
definetely dig this one and so will you. On the B side we have a hard house
track that stomps at about 135 bpm, not bad.
THE A SIDE MAKES THIS ONE FOR SURE 8.5/10

@Brunner V-max 984
I believe in V-Max and I believe that this one is just the bomb Hightech
Funk are the best words to describe this one. Check out the second track on
the A side, bpms at about 154. This one is phunky, breaky and deep as
phunq!!! The first track on the B side is a slamming sound that would come
of
a UR release, SID'ish type of sound, bad, bad, bad.
BEST V-MAX IN MY OPINION 9.5/10

Question???

2000-07-04 Thread JavierDrada
How come certain trends on 313 are so easy to follow while others are just
ignored, why I ask this is because I know that there are more people on this
list that get packages from Submerge or stumbled on certain pre-released
material but it is hardly ever discussed. I think one person shared their
views on the new V-Max and zero shared anything on the new KMS. What's up, I
think it is our duty and responsibility to discuss this material!!! Why do
you think we get advanced copies?

So that we can spread the word and prepare and let people know that, hey
this stuff is gonna be out soon and you know what it is pretty dope, and you
know what else you should go out and pick yourself up a copy or hound down
your local record shop cause we need to support the UNDERGROUND, what's up
folks? Is it me or is there something wrong here?

know and I was just trying to make a point about that. Sorry if it disturbed

about we put our heads together and combine as a whole lets developed some
sort of massive Underground Network and use our own resources to publicize
our own reviews and what not. Lets give them a run for their money..any
ideas, allot of us host our own sites, lets use whatever tools we have
available to expand this baby, lets take 313 and Hyperreal to the next
level, it's all been started lets build on what we have. Only serious headz

Revolution to Change

2000-07-06 Thread JavierDrada
Here is my small bit of vision:

We Organize an Underground Network
We Set a webpage template that everyone who has a site can add this page to
it.
This page will be linked to various sites that can host bits of the big
network.
We publish reviews and Underground News on the net through our Network and
on land through publications
We make it a simple black and white publication that we can download as a
pdf file or something and we can print ourselves internationally.
We distribute the material ourselves all over the world
We create standard stickers and War Pamphlets
We organize for the next Winter Music Conference and have our voices heard.
We set up chapters throughout the globe who will also organize and
distribute Underground Propaganda
We combine as one global power steal the United Nations symbol and make it
United Underground Alliance!

Now take these ideas and lets make something, post your own ideas and
contribution and lets get to work, this project is huge, and time is not on
our side.

2000-07-09 Thread JavierDrada
Welcome to the real world?
If you see some of these names overtly publicized, you'd better take a close
look cause more than likely something is wrong with that picture, you don't
see the Underground Cats getting that much hype, why do you think. The big
boys have a way of getting paid of off names like DJ Spooky, and many others
that crossed over to the mainstream. Mainstream is where the money is at,
but they suck the artist dry and destroy the reputation of something
worthwhile, look at the "Alternative Scene", the "Hip-Hop Scene", they are
even tapping into the Drum and Bass scene, of course Detroit Techno is hard
for them to grasp, and believe me they have been trying real hard to buy
into that market. But cats like UR won't sell out, 430 West won't sell out,
Direct Beat won't sell out, and many more who know this game very well, TP,
educate the folks tell them how it is...I know you know.....

New Moods & Grooves (MG-009 & MG-010)

2000-08-03 Thread JavierDrada
Hello All,

Well let me tell ya, If UR not on the M&G's(Moods And Grooves) program,
then you need to come from under that rock and get with it.
M&G's busts out two new releases, one from Mr. Brian Harden and the
other from John Tejada and Arian Leviste.

Brian Harden - The Nubirth Project Vol. 2 - Moods and Grooves 009
Hats off to Mr. Harden, another fabulous release I must say.
"Klear Keys II" starts off with some slamming 4/4, touched with
some well done chords, nice and jazzy, lovely I must say.
Then we have "Sixth Horn" it comes in to slow things down a bit, just a bit,
consisting of quality house, with some cool sounding horn, and lush chords
throughout, and add a slight stab of a whistle sound that floats throughout
the track, another winner.

Finally, "Matrix" on the b side.
Do me a favor , when you slap this baby on, make sure you have some
Depends handy, cause UR gonna s#*t.
Harder sounding beats, jazzy, techhouse madness.

You can't fail with this, 9.5/10

Dave Manic, Detroit Influence

ps, I'll give you some feed back on Moods and Grooves 010 tomorrow
John Tejada / Arian Leviste - Where Circles Begin

The Nubirth Project Vol. 2
MG-009

Available September 2000

Re: [313] UR Z-series?-How old?

2000-08-07 Thread JavierDrada
They have been playing those for sometime now, the answer is most likely
yes, I would have to ask how long ago they started calling them that, in any
case they always used some sort of material that was not publicly available.

Re:Underground verses Commercialism

2000-08-16 Thread JavierDrada
I think what we have here is a difference of opinion, and with all due
respect, but Underground is Underground and the views are very different
some do it for money and fame others for the love of it. Unfortunately The
Pubahs might have the Underground and the Resistance spirit but they have
been taken in a totally opposite direction with a short life span.
Commercial music comes and goes the Underground lives in the heart and the
heart and spirit never die, we do this for love not money. So there is no
point arguing about two different ideas.

Much love and respect, good luck with the machine, and the lies many still
believe, unfortunately.

(313) Fw: In the beginning....

Dear Javier,

RE: "this is my house..." speech.

The only thing I can tell you about the "this is Jack" track is that it was
on a "blue" label. I don't remember the name of it either. I can't even
remember what label it was as it was so long ago that I got rid of the 12".
It's probably safe to assume that it was a label that only had 1 or 2
releases [if that many] since I can't recall seeing the label again after
that one record. The version of "Can You Feel It?" that had that speech on
it was released on Desire Records [UK] and it wasn't authorized by myself or
Robert. If the interested party can track down Desire Records, maybe that
record is around somewhere, but I'd really doubt it seeing that it was
released over 10 years ago.

Sorry I can't offer more information than this.
