The guy behind it, Josh Brent, has been around for a while, but I really rate him on his diversity. Oh, i abosolutely love the series that was released on Schatrax. He did a series of 10 (the 10th being a gatefold 2 12 pack) 12's 1 album, in about 3 years, then closed the label down moved to Barcelona. It's abit of an odd one this. I've got the 1st three Hot Lizard releases, he remixed the 1st one as Love From San Fransisco, then was part of Hot Lizard on the next 2. other than that, was it because he was the sound engineer for Network Records subsidiary, Kool Kat, when Neil Rushton was in charge? or less likely, he has had a release on Happy (No. 6) TTFN, -- Tom Lawton

Axis 20 (apologies)
Well, after my somewhat harsh comment evoking some replies likewise, i'd like to point out (in the harsh light of morning) that 1: I didn't know that the copy i've got is limited , 2: It probably isn't up to Jeff to set the prices of his releases 3) It's great music anyway (espicially 1st thing in the morning. I suppose i was just a tad overwhelmed by the price, and felt i needed to vent my spleen about it. Anyway, i'm off to the Love parade for a few hours after work today (the leeds one anyway) to have a little shimmy, if i can find wherever Derrick Carter's playing My Bad, -- Tom Lawton

Suprised? I was!
I just got hold of a copy of Axis 20 today, even forking out the very ridiculous price of 22ukp for it. This i must say is really taking the piss . A normal import doublepack cost rought 13-14ukp, so how can Jeff justify the extra 8-9ukp? i mean, this ins't really showing any respect for the british buyers of Jeff's stuff, who, like me, have been buying his 12's on sight now for years. Jeff, if you're around here, can you please tell me why it costs an extra 8ukp than it really should? Just how much did you pay for yours then? TTFN, -- Tom Lawton

(313) TFB Goldmine - An Unmissable Opportunity
Friends TFB's everywhere, I've recently been told by Alex Handley, he of Turbulent Force fame, that he is selling the bulk of his 25,000 records. Now this may not seem like a good deal, but it contains 10 years of premium Techno from over this time. And he wants to sell all but about 400 records. THe stock contains more or less everything to do with Detroit Techno, plus a good slice of English, European techno from around the globe, and contains most releases, promo's white labels from labels such as Transmat, Direct Beat, Metroplex, Relief, 430 West, M- Plant, Soma, Plus 8, Planet E, Communique, Synewave, Cajual, Djax, KMS, UR, Loop and many, many more. Now the best thing about it is that he's selling 12's for 2 ukp a shot, although there are some that will cost a slight bit more. Double packs are 4 ukp, and triples 6 ukp. The only thing that might put you off is that he will only sell them in bulk buys of 100 records a time. This may seem odd, but he wants to sell to those people who are bang into the music. Look at it this way: You'll pay 200 ukp for 100 records, which, if bought in a shop will cost (In the UK anyway) at least 6.95ukp per 12, and more for double packs, rare, out of stock and deleted tunes. Convert that into 200ukp and you end up with about just under 30 records, but in this deal you get 200 in one go for the same price. Also it's not a case of he'll bag up 100 records for you, you get to choose which ones you want, although this will mean you'l have to arrange a meetoing to have a good old browse through them.. If you're interested in this deal, contact me privately for Alex's contact details. TTFN, -- Tom Lawton ICQ:21604785 A penny saved is ridiculous

Anyway it's by Christian Smith John Selway and is bloody excellent. Crisp funky techno with lotsa analogue squelches and nice electro blips. Haven't seen any other relases yet Paper on the other hand is a deep house label run from manchester by Miles Hollway Elliot Eastwick. About 30 releases down the line now, and most are great. REleases music from artists in France (Dirty Jesus), Norway (Those Norwegians), Newcastle (New Phunk Theory) Manchester (Salt City orchestra (Now R.I.P.)), along with others. They used to DJ at Hard Times in Leeds for around 5 years before leaving, citing musical differences. Elliot is also a northern gob thru thru. Sound blokes though..
