(313) Carl Craig Remix
Has anyone heard Carl's remix of In the Trees by Faze Action, heard a couple of people going on about how big it is...Coming out on Juno's new label... m
RE: (313) Carl Craig Remix
I wonder if it's a new remix or was done at the time? But they have a pattern, they have a similar beat, which gradually winds its way up with a hook from the original vocal (if there was one) and then it reaches a crescendo just when the needle hits the run out groove. And it not me hating on CC, its just a general observation. Cheers BT
Re: (313) Carl Craig Remix
Hmm I dunno Tom, some of these C2 mixes are very formulaic. Things like that Darkness rework (Max Mix) he did, and things like that Xpress2 Kill 100 track, Terry Brookes remix, that Delia and Gavin Mix, even that Falling Up mix. Don't get me wrong though, I still be em all but they are a little C2-by-numbers. robin... what exactly are the similarities in his recent remixes aside from the fact that a large number of them are ridiculously dope? i cant think of two that sound the same, or even similar. i cant believe c2 would get hated on for being too good. that doesnt make any sense. tom
RE: (313) Carl Craig Remix
Yeah, I'm with Tom on this! Strange one from you Dave! :) I tried to piece together some recent C2 remixes in my mind and I can't see such a pattern - although strictly speaking, BT wasn't calling one - that was Antonio. The last few which stood out for me are that remix of 'See Mi Yah', 'Busted Trees', and not forgetting 'Tides' of course. And finally, quite recently that remix of 'Relevee' by Delia Gonzales and Gavin Russom. It's possible your speculation has some grain of truth but it seems doubtful really. Also, note, I'm not saying that there are some remixes he's done which I'm not that impressed by: I thought 'Falling Up' (his remix of it) was just slightly above-average, in the end. Likeable, but not brilliant. Ken -Original Message- From: Thomas D. I do love the ones you mentioned though, they sound very unique and distinctive. Still, the last C2 remix I bought was the Delia Gavim one, that piano breakdown always gives me the chills!

Well, I listed that one as being one of his formulaic releases but I love the bit later on when the the bongos (or whatever they're called) and pianos come in. Ace. I thought the Terry Brookes remixes were amazing! *shrugg* Ill throw in the Kult Copy remix for another incredible mix. And, while there are some exceptions, I do feel that as of the last couple years (read 2004 - present) Carl has mostly adopted a formula. I dont think thats a bad thing, and he does vary it up enough to make it still interesting, but to hear people say that they dont (for the most part) hear the same sort of formula to them is kinda odd. derek.

FW: (313) Carl Craig remix of X-Press 2's 'Kill 100'
Had to pass on this as the vocal spoiled it for me - they should have included an instrumental of his mix. -Original Message- From: Tristan Watkins [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 28 September 2006 23:40 Next up from the Maestro. Had to pass on this for the same reason (though I got sent a CD of it). Also it just sounds like a genero-carl craig remix to my ears. The C2 remix I'm waiting with baited breath for is that Japanese Syncro System remix that's about to land (if the US pressing plants stay open for 5 minutes :) ). The clips of that sound awesome. robin... Had to pass on this as the vocal spoiled it for me - they should have included an instrumental of his mix.

Yes I thought it was a bit one of his remixes-by-numbers too - guess I'd still have got it without the singing though ;-) The C2 remix I'm waiting with baited breath for is that Japanese Syncro System remix that's about to land (if the US pressing plants stay open for 5 minutes :) ). The clips of that sound awesome. Hmm..didn't think that sounded that good either! - think I like the beats mix better. Will check it again. In fact that could be one that sounds good a big rig! OK not all records sound good on a big rig and of those that do some improve more than others - but at the end of the day I guess how much that means you should reconsider buying a record depends on how often you get to play on a big rig. I don't even get to hear one THAT often - though things are looking up at the moment with that warehouse sessions thing hopefully having impressive sound? - it better or it'll be a let down with all those fab names coming up. I'll also be visiting Berlin again soon where the majority of rigs seem to knock the ones here into touch. Solid bassline pumpin' from that big rig in Berghain...ah yeah. I'm sure both above records will be sounding good in there! Had to pass on this as the vocal spoiled it for me - they should have included an instrumental of his mix.

oops soz for the last double. The label is Life Line, like the other JSS things I think. http://www.piccadillyrecords.com/index.php?url=http:// www.piccadillyrecords.com/ver2/search1.phpnew=1search=Japanese +Synchro+System robin... That sounds really promising - do you know what label it's slated for?
